Privacy Policy

The short version

You do not need an account to use QuizPaste. We do not store the text you paste. We send it to a third-party model provider so it can write the questions, and we do not use it to train anything. If you click "Share" or "Save to library", we do store the resulting questions (not your original pasted text) — see "When you explicitly choose to save a result" below.

The text you paste

When you press Generate, the text in the box is sent to our server and forwarded to Groq, the provider that runs the language model which writes your questions and flashcards. Groq processes the text to produce the output and returns it to your browser.

We do not write your pasted text to our database or to file storage. We do not keep a copy of it once the response has finished. We do not train models on it, and we do not sell it or pass it to anyone other than the model provider named above.

Groq handles that text under its own terms and privacy policy. If your text is confidential, or covered by someone else's rules, that is worth reading before you paste it.

The quiz you generate is saved in your own browser (localStorage) so that a refresh does not lose it. It stays on your device, and clearing your browser storage removes it.

When you explicitly choose to save a result

Two features store a copy of a generated result — the questions, answers, and the short source-line excerpt each question cites — on our server. Neither stores the raw text you originally pasted, and neither happens unless you take the specific action described:

• Share: clicking "Share" on a result publishes it to a public, unauthenticated link (quizpaste.com/s/...). Anyone with the link can view and answer it; it is not linked from the site or indexed by search engines. It expires automatically after 30 days.
• Save to library (Pro accounts only): clicking "Save to library" stores a copy privately, tied to your account. Only you can see it (at quizpaste.com/library), and you can rename or delete any entry at any time — deleting removes it immediately.

Rate limiting

Free generation is limited per visitor per day. To count those generations we derive a key for the current day from your IP address. It is used to enforce the limit and to protect the service from abuse, and it expires automatically after 24 hours. We do not use it to profile you or to build an advertising audience.

Cookies

We set an anonymous visitor id so that basic product analytics (for example, how many people who paste text go on to generate a quiz) are not double counted. It carries no name, no email and no account. We do not run advertising cookies.

Accounts and email

An account (email + password, or Google sign-in) is optional. You do not need one to generate quizzes or flashcards. Signing up gets you a higher free monthly limit and cross-device history; a paid Pro subscription additionally gets you more generations, longer inputs, the extra question types, and the library described above. If you have an account, we store your email and, for Pro subscribers, billing records via Stripe (we never see your card number). If you leave your email on a waitlist or "notify me" form, we store it only to send that one notification.

Your rights

If you have an account, ask us and we will tell you what we hold or delete it (deleting your account also deletes your library — see Save to library, above). If you only ever gave us an email address, write to us and we will remove it.
